Sony Fe 50 F1.4

Sony FE 50mm F1.4 GM is a full-frame E-mount prime lens from the G Master series. Its 50mm view gives a natural look for portraits, events, travel, and everyday photography. The bright F1.4 aperture also helps in low light. In addition, it gives strong control over depth of field and subject separation. The lens uses 14 elements in 11 groups. Two XA elements help reduce distortion and other lens errors. An ED glass element also helps control color fringing. Moreover, Nano AR Coating II helps reduce flare and ghosting. The 11-blade circular aperture creates smooth background blur. As a result, the lens works well for portraits and other shots that need soft backgrounds. Dual XD Linear Motors drive the autofocus system. Therefore, the lens can focus quickly and quietly. It also supports accurate eye-detection autofocus on compatible Sony cameras. The minimum focus distance is 0.41m with autofocus. With manual focus, it can focus down to 0.38m. The maximum magnification reaches 0.16x in AF and 0.18x in MF. The lens also provides useful controls for photo and video work. These include an aperture ring, iris lock, focus hold buttons, and a focus mode switch. Furthermore, the aperture ring supports click and de-click operation. The lens has a dust- and moisture-resistant design. Its front element also uses a fluorine coating. However, Sony does not guarantee complete dust or moisture protection. At 516g, the lens stays relatively light for an F1.4 G Master prime. It measures 80.6 × 96mm and accepts 67mm filters.
