Engineered by the renowned French audio brand Cabasse, the Surf combines refined acoustic design with quality components to produce balanced, clear, and expressive audio performance that satisfies both music lovers and home entertainment enthusiasts. The Surf offers a compelling entry point into the world of high-fidelity audio without compromising on musicality or tonal balance. Its well-engineered two-way configuration provides strong bass presence for its size, articulate mids, and detailed highs, making it suitable for stereo music systems, multi-channel home theater setups, or even desktop setups paired with quality amplification. Compact and versatile, the Surf adapts well to a variety of listening environments while maintaining consistent audio quality across genre types. Acoustic Design & Philosophy Cabasse’s design philosophy seeks to deliver a natural and immersive listening experience through careful driver selection, precise crossover engineering, and controlled cabinet resonance. The Surf bookshelf speaker embodies this philosophy within a modest footprint, offering a professional-grade listening experience in a compact form factor. The two-way driver arrangement optimizes the reproduction of both low and high frequencies while preserving clarity and detail. The enclosure’s bass-reflex design enhances low-frequency extension and reduces unwanted distortion, resulting in sound that feels more open and expressive than typical speakers in its class. This thoughtful approach allows the Surf to reproduce complex musical passages with poise, making it suitable for everyday listening as well as critical evaluation. Driver Configuration The Cabasse Surf features a two-driver design : Midrange/Woofer: A 13 cm (approximately 5.1″) driver handles low and mid frequencies with controlled output, giving depth and body to music without losing clarity in vocals or instruments. Tweeter: A 27 mm dome tweeter reproduces high frequencies with smoothness and precision, bringing out detail and air in recordings without harshness. The drivers are paired with a carefully tuned crossover set at around 3,600 Hz , ensuring seamless integration between the woofer and tweeter. This ensures that transitions across the frequency spectrum are natural, with minimal phase interference or imbalance between drivers. Together, the components create a coherent and balanced acoustic output that faithfully renders source material. Frequency Response & Tonal Balance The frequency response of the Cabasse Surf spans 65 Hz to 23,000 Hz , covering the essential range of human hearing with depth and fidelity. Within this range, the speaker delivers: Low Frequencies: Tight and controlled bass extension for a bookshelf speaker. Although the Surf’s physical size limits its absolute bass depth compared to larger floorstanding designs, it still produces a robust mid-bass foundation that supports rhythm and groove in music. Midrange Frequencies: The midrange remains clear and articulate, lending definition to vocals and acoustic instruments. This makes the speaker well-suited for genres where midrange detail is essential. High Frequencies: Smooth and extended treble ensures that nuances, harmonics, and detailed high-end content are rendered without harshness, resulting in a balanced tonal signature across volumes. This tonal balance makes the Surf versatile, delivering engaging performance whether listening to jazz, rock, classical, pop, or electronic music. Power Handling & Efficiency The Cabasse Surf is specified with 65 W RMS power handling , which indicates the continuous power it can safely handle, and 450 W peak power capability , providing headroom for dynamic musical transients and peak content. This dual-rating makes the speaker durable and responsive when paired with appropriate amplification. With a sensitivity of 85 dB (1 W / 1 m) and a nominal impedance of 8 Ω , the Surf is compatible with a wide range of amplifiers and AV receivers. Its efficiency and moderate impedance make it easy to drive, even with entry-level integrated amplifiers, while still delivering pleasing output levels and dynamic responsiveness. Cabinet Construction & Build Quality The Surf’s cabinet is designed for both acoustic performance and aesthetic integration. Its compact bookshelf shape allows it to fit easily on stands, shelves, or compact furniture without overwhelming a room visually or sonically. The bass-reflex enclosure enhances low frequency response while minimizing distortion and unwanted vibration. Cabasse pays close attention to internal bracing and material selection to reduce resona
