Key findings

  1. Shopping around pays. For 742 products sold new by 3 or more shops, the most expensive shop asked a median 12.9% ($90) more than the cheapest one, and 63% of them had a gap above 10%. Example: Iphone 17 PRO MAX 256GB ranged from $1,400 to $1,820 across 19 shops.

  2. Like for like, prices rose 0.7% between the end of Aug 2026 and the end of Sep 2026: 16% of tracked products got more expensive and 9% got cheaper. The typical laptop price moved from $1,000 to $1,099 (+9.9%), but the same laptops changed only +0.7%: the difference is in which models shops list, not in what they charge.

  3. We verified 186 real price drops during September (at least 7% and $30, each price held for 2+ days), with a median cut of 9.9%. The largest: Lenovo IdeaPad 5i 2-in-1 16IAL10 83KS001BUS - Ultra 7 255U - Intel Graphics at JAK Computer, $1,350 to $991 (−27%).

Prices by category

Typical prices, and how they moved

The typical price is the median month-end price of every new product in the category. It moves when shops list different models, so the same-item change column is the real price movement: the same listings, priced at the end of August 2026 and again at the end of September 2026.

How much the price of one product varies between shops

742 products were sold new by 3 or more shops at the end of September 2026. Across them, the gap between the cheapest and the most expensive shop was a median 12.9% ($90). The most widely stocked:

Some of the gap reflects versions sold under one model name (eSIM or physical SIM, official or shop warranty, colour). Prices more than 30% away from the shops' median are left out as a likely different version. Only the cheapest shop is named.

Real price drops

The biggest verified price drops in September 2026

Measured by us, not taken from a shop's "was" price: each item held the higher price on at least 2 days at the start of the month and the lower one on at least 2 days at the end. 186 of the 7,659 products priced at both ends of the month qualified.

Methodology

How we measure

Source.LebTech checks the public websites of Lebanese electronics shops every day and records each product's price and stock status. This edition uses 630,547 of those daily checks, taken over 30 days in September 2026. No shop pays to be included, and shops do not supply or review the figures.

Scope. Shops based in Lebanon that are listed on LebTech; six categories (laptops, phones, tablets, monitors, TVs, game consoles); laptop accessories excluded. Only products in new condition count towards prices; used, open-box and refurbished units are one-offs, not a market price.

Month-end price.A product's price is the one it showed most often, in stock, over the last 4 well-covered days of the month (Sep 27, Sep 28, Sep 29, Sep 30), and it must be seen on at least 2 of them, so a one-day error never becomes a price. Prices are what the buyer pays: when a shop advertises prices before VAT, we add the 11% VAT.

Typical priceis the median of those month-end prices in a category (the "middle half" runs from the 25th to the 75th percentile). Same-item changecompares each product's month-end price with its own month-end price a month earlier and averages the ratios geometrically (the Jevons formula statistical offices use for elementary price indices). Changes larger than 2x either way are treated as data errors and left out.

Verified drops follow the rule used across LebTech: the price must fall by at least 7% and at least $30, the earlier price must have held on 2+ days (Sep 1, Sep 2, Sep 3, Sep 4), and an earlier price more than 1.5x the new one is rejected as a likely error.

Same-product gap. Listings are grouped when our matcher identifies the same model with the same memory and storage (manufacturer part numbers where shops publish them). For each product carried by 3+ shops we take each shop's lowest month-end price and compare the cheapest with the most expensive.

Limits. We see advertised online prices, not prices negotiated in store or paid in cash at a different rate. Shop coverage changes as shops join or their sites go down; the typical price is sensitive to that, the same-item change is not. Figures are frozen when an edition is published and are not revised.
